In this week's Spotlight we feature "Colors Of A Man" by Tia Stewart.
Colors of a Man, "Tribute to African-American Men" is poetry about African-American men and the women who love them.
This poetry book is an in-depth look into the souls of men and women. In this book of poems, about everyday Joe's to CEO's, African- American men are compared to the great masterpiece paintings.
President Barack Obama is one of the many historical African-American men to whom the author pays homage. Using some of the same southern styles and celebrated genres as famous poets, Maya Angelou, Rita Dove, and Nikki Giovanni, Colors of A Man, "Tribute to African-American Men" handles tough subjects such as incarceration rates for our black youth, domestic violence, interracial love, cougar relationships, media views of African- Americans relationships, black family values, Christian marriages, health issues, and pastors in the pulpit, plus various other topics in Tia Stewart's series of books, "Colors of A Man".
Tia Stewart is an African-American writer whose penchant for verbiage started in the fifth grade when her teachers thought she was passing handwritten notes about boys, but she and her best friend were editing each other's books and magazine articles. Her third book is a poetry novel, Colors of Man: Tribute to African-American Men has now been released. Her first publication, Colors of a Man: Transgressions and Hope was published in April of 2009. She writes in several genres, but poetry is her passion.
Ms. Stewart is an RN, who attended Northwestern University and is an alumnus of Norfolk State University, and Excelsior University. She also attended the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University for one year before becoming a full- time mommy. Tia lives in Chesterfield, Virginia with her family. Tia Stewart is a proud native of Petersburg, Virginia, and her adopted hometowns, Detroit, Michigan, and Norfolk, Virginia. She is a member of James Rivers Writers, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Mocha Moms, and The Dooley Society, Maymont Foundation in Richmond, Virginia. This is her first poetry book.
