Celebrate the 4th birthday of National Reading Group Month, with a special lineup of nationally acclaimed authors on Wednesday, October 10th at 6pm at the Baldwin Public Library (300 W. Merrill, Birmingham 48009. Joining us in the celebration is D.E. Johnson, author of a historical series of Detroit-based mysteries which includes The Detroit Electric SchemeMotor City Shakedown, and the latest release in the series- Motor City Breakdown. Also joining us will be Natalie Bakopoulos, acclaimed debut author of  The Green Shore. Books will be for sale, courtesy of Book Beat and refreshments will be served. This free event will be of special interest to book clubs and aspiring writers! If you do any of those (or something else performance-related), it's your turn at the mic. If you like to listen to fine live music and poetry, please join us as well. Refreshments served.

Off-Site Event: NaNoWriMo Kick-Off*

We welcome all writers, non-writers, improvisational wizards to join the craziness that is National Novel Writing Month(NaNoWriMo for short) as we celebrate with a kick-off party and a novel-makingpep talk by one of the many friendly Municipal Liaisonswho volunteer for NaNo. Since our kick-off will be at our awesome local Biggby(37644 Ford Rd, Westland), we're treating everyone in attendance to a free coffee drink (one lucky attendee will receive a Biggby gift card).

The library will be hosting Write-Ins every Thursday in November (except Thanksgiving Day) from 6-8:45 p.m.

HALLOWEEN STORYTIME! Oooohhhhh.....Feel free to dress in costume, but it is not necessary. We will Trick-Or-Treat at the end of the session! Toddler Tales is an interactive program between parents/caregivers and their children ages 18 months to 3.5 years.

Preschool Storytime

Preschool story time is designed for an independent child 3.5 to 5 years old, not yet in kindergarten, who is ready to sit and listen to stories, learn finger plays and sing songs. Storytime runs approximately 30 minutes and introduces early literacy concepts.

Do you love to read books? Would you like to read a book to a new buddy? Stop by the Children's Department for a chance to read to BUDDY, a certified therapy dog. Buddy will not care if you mess up, but he might be sad if you forget pet him! This is a drop-in program; no registration required.

Would you like to volunteer your time to share books with children in various venues around Holland like the Holland Rescue Mission?
