Naomi Long Madgett, educator and Detroit poet laureate, dies at 97 #motownwriters 😒❤

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Naomi Long Madgett at the age of 97.  Madgett became a DWW member in 1967 and was known for her humility and gentleness.  

In addition, she started Lotus Press in 1972 to showcase black poets and was Detroit's Poet Laureate from 2001 until her death.
