Dear Writers and Literary Event Organizers of Detroit,
We send our wishes for a healthy and inspired New Year!
We are reaching out to let you know that our program has mini-grants available to support events in Detroit, and to encourage you to apply:
- If you're a literary event organizer: consider applying for a mini-grant to pay a writer to give a reading or conduct a writing workshop for your community. For those unfamiliar with our process, or who haven't applied in a while, we are now offering a handy Applicant Toolkit, which provides guidance and basic tips for a successful application.
- If you're a writer: initiate the process by contacting your favorite literary venue and let them know mini-grants are available to support your reading or writing workshop. Break the ice using one of the suggested e-mails from our Template for Writers, which will help you introduce our program to a sponsoring organization.
We are funding both virtual and in-person events, and recommend in-person gatherings follow your city or state's COVID-19 safety measures.
Do you have an event planned but are not sure if you have time to apply? Not to worry: we are reducing the rolling submission deadline for applications from Detroit to 4 weeks in advance of the event date for the remainder of our fiscal year, which ends June 30. If your event is taking place sooner than 4 weeks, please reach out to see how we can help!
We value the literary community in Detroit and look forward to supporting your events!
With kind regards,
Bonnie Rose Marcus
