Hello Writers! Writers Group Meets Tuesday, Poetry in the Park next Friday, Writing Contest Deadline a Month away, Rochester Writers' Appearances in the Community this Summer, and More. News and Events Writers' Group Rochester Writers' hosts The Freelance Marketplace Writers' Group: The group meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Rochester Hills Barnes & Noble Bookstore at 2800 S. Rochester Road (just north of M59). Different topics and guests each month*, however the main conversation is always about the Business of Writing (this is NOT a critique group). Free and Open to the Public. NEXT MEETING IS TUESDAY JULY 16. July 16 August 20 September 17 October 15 November 19 Poetry in the Park The Rochester Poets' Society hosts their annual event in the Rochester Municipal Park on Friday, July 19, at 7:00 p.m. at the Kiwanis Pavilion. Scheduled poets include James Ahearn, Rochester's Poet Laureate. Open mic poetry will take place after scheduled readers on a first come basis. Rochester Writers' Appearances in the Community Detroit Festival of Books at Eastern Market: Sunday, July 21 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in Shed 3. 5th Annual Local Author Book Sale & Signing at SterlingFest: Saturday, July 27, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. outside the Sterling Heights Public Library. Rochester Hills Public Library Shop Small Saturday: Saturday, November 30, from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Author Sign-ups Now Open Save the Date 12th Annual Rochester Writers' Conference, October 19, at Oakland University for Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Business Elements for new writers, working journalists,and published authors. Registration to Open in late July. Call for Entries in the Rochester Writers' 2019 Summer Writing Contest Categories: Poetry, Micro Fiction, First Page, Memoir Prizes: Cash Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Places in each category. In addition, Best of Show will receive a complimentary pass to a future Rochester Writers' Conference.
