LEON & LULU IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE BOOKS & AUTHORS, AN EVENT CELEBRATING APRIL'S LITERARY HOLIDAYS

Meet and Mingle with Michigan Authors a Leon & Lulu with Proceeds Benefiting the Oakland Literacy Council

CLAWSON, MI (April 20, 2018) – On the heels of World Book Day April 23, and just before Children's Day April 30, Leon & Lulu will host its award-winning Books & Authors event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 29 at Leon & Lulu.

"Books & Authors is one of our most important events," says Mary Liz Curtin, co-owner of Leon & Lulu. "It's a great opportunity to share the joy of reading with children and teens who, all too often, have their eyes glued to iPhones and other electronic devices. Everyone can enjoy the chance to meet the author behind the story, learning more about their personal journey inspiring them to write the book," she explains. This year we're again working with the wonderful folks at the Oakland Literacy Council, who provide the basic literacy and English language instruction necessary for adults in our community to find employment."

Books & Authors is a juried book fair featuring mostly Michigan writers. Guests can mix and mingle with 50 authors who will sell and sign books collectively more than 120 books. Authors will also read excerpts for guests. The event is free and open to the public. Proceeds from the event will again benefit the Oakland Literacy Council.

Celebrate words, writers and reading, plus enjoy snacks, refreshments, fun and plenty of shopping. For more information, visit www.leonandlulu.com. Find Leon & Lulu on Facebook at www.facebook.com/leonandlulu.

About The Oakland Literacy Council

The Oakland Literacy Council provides basic literacy and English language instruction to adults in order to facilitate lifelong learning, employment skills and personal well-being. All Oakland County residents deserve to have the skills, knowledge, and understanding needed to flourish in today's complex and interconnected world. Literate students are able to achieve both personal and educational goals. They can do things like vote, increase their workplace productivity, and pass on the gift of reading to their children. The most important benefit is the improvement in the overall quality of life.
