Please join St. Clair Shores to host first literary walk: Event's founder, @MLLIEBLER says literature is accessible to everyone@ginaljoseph

This past week alone he was busy doing a library tour in northern Michigan and an interview with C-SPAN to promote a collection of short stories about legendary Detroit musicians along with a visit to the studio where Eminem recorded all of his legendary albums. He's been a professor at Wayne State University since 1980 and known for his passion to teach young people how to hone their creative writing skills and the importance of literary arts and he’s traveled the world -- from Russia, China and Afghanistan to Finland, Italy, Canada and most 50 states -- in order to read and perform his work for people of all ages and cultures.
So, it comes as no surprise that he would organize and host the first annual St. Clair Shores Literary Walk by the Lake at Wahby Park, June 22 from 11:30 to 3:30 p.m.
M.L. LieblerM.L. Liebler
"I started a literary walk 12 years ago in Chelsea," Liebler said, of the first event that brought nationally and locally-renowned authors together in order to highlight the power of literature and poetry in everyday life.
During the event attendees walk through the city and stop at various locations to hear readings. "If you've ever been to Chelsea you know it has lots of art galleries, cafes and of course, a great library," Liebler said. "It was the perfect city for something like this."
People also loved the idea.

Schedule of authors for June 22 include:

11:30 a.m.
The start of the inaugural walk features music by the Batesville Memorial Library Ukulele Club and readings from members of the SCS Library Poetry Club including: L. Bush, Mark Morgan, Debbie Benedic, Andy Vinstra, Yvonne Vinstra and Sharon Franco.
12:30 p.m.
Feature readings by Cindy Hunter Morgan, a Michigan poet and Michigan Notable Book Award author of "Harborless" and Diane DeCillis, Detroit poet and Michigan Notable Book Award author of "No Strings Attached."
1:30 p.m.
Walkers will be treated to readings by Jenifer DeBellis, "Pink Panther Mag" editor, aRIFT Warrior Project director and author of "Blood Sisters"; Dwight "Skip" Stackhouse, poet, writer and Kresge Fellow and K. Michele Moran, an award-winning poet and Detroit area journalist.
2:30 p.m.
Attendees will be treated to the works of nationally-renowned authors Maria Mazziotti Gillan and Anne Finger.
The SCS Literary Walk is presented by the Detroit Writer's Guild, Michigan Council for Arts and Culture, Friends of the SCS Library, SCS Cultural Committee, SCS Library and John M. Steinberg & Associates of SCS.
This event is free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale and signing.
