The Southeast Michigan Poetry @Meetup Wed, Sept12th 7-9pm @ Panera Bread, Southfield #MichLit

Don't forget Wednesday's meeting, "We're On A Roll," 7-9 p.m. at Panera Bread on Southfield Road between 12 Mile and 696.  Please bring copies of your original, unpublished poem.

As we have good response on Facebook as well,  we may have a bigger group. The first there will be the first to read. If we have a big enough group,  we will limit comment time.

If you register as a student, please bring your student ID to the event. You will be asked to show it at registration. If you register as a senior, an ID will need to be shown at registration as well.

My name is Ashlee Chesny. I am a published children's author and I am on a mission to change the way our nation approaches education, as well as child development. I use my children's books to get children excited about learning. In fact, by using my children's books to create educational programming, I help to engage and re-engage children in the learning process. Because of these noble missions, I have been called a literary super hero and the author with a heart of gold. I love both of those titles and feel honored to have them.

Aside from being an avid storyteller and creator of characters, I am the founder of a nonprofit social education program called Literacy Come to Life. Literacy Come to Life is founded on the principle of Proverbs 22:6, which states "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." At Literacy Come to Life we serve the "he" instead of the "should go". We focus on helping the child to find their individual path according to their interest and God given gifts. From this, we can train them up properly and provide them the resources for their individualized purpose filled journey.
