[NaNoWriMo] [USA :: Michigan :: Detroit] NaNoWriMotown in July! Due dates for #NaNoWri Minions coming up!

Dear NaNoWriMotown,

With the heat and humidity of July all around us, it may seem unnatural to be thinking about National Novel Writing Month, with the chill of November and the call of Thanksgiving. However, your Detroit leadership is gearing up now to make 2019 the best NaNoWriMo yet! And if you're interested in helping with this work, this email is for you!

1. We're currently looking for people interested in becoming a Detroit Minion! What is a Minion? They help the MLs (Municipal Liaisons) steer the ship! They run write-ins, help organize events, and keep our online presence running smoothly. For a more comprehensive look at the job, please see the job description here. If you're interested in becoming a Minion, we've got an application right here. Our current leadership structure is 3 MLs and 6 Minions, and now we're in search of one new Minion. If you think that's you, please apply! The deadline is Saturday, July 20^th.

2. July's Writing Space is less than one week away! Now is a great time to spend one day a month planning your novel. If you start next week, that's four planning sessions before November! This month's Writing Space is at the Patchwork Collective in Ferndale (22007 Woodward Ave.) on Tuesday, July 16^th, from 6-9pm. Snacks and coffee will be provided with a $5 optional suggested donation. Rochester Hills Public Library Seeks Authors for First Author Fair  

 

(ROCHESTER HILLS- July 8, 2019) Rochester Hills Public Library has partnered with Rochester's Writers to host its first author's fair on Shop Small Saturday, November 30. Authors of all genres are being encouraged to apply for a space by July 25.

"This is a unique opportunity to highlight talented Michigan authors while participating in Shop Small Saturday," said Amanda H. Keighley with the Rochester Hills Public Library. "We would like to offer a wide variety of genres and experiences at the event."

"Rochester Writers is pleased to collaborate with the Rochester Hills Public Library to bring local authors together. This event will be a wonderful chance for readers and writers to meet each other. We encourage published authors of the community to apply to be a part of this inaugural book sale," said Michael Dwyer, founder of Rochester Writers.

Rochester Hills Public Library is currently recruiting authors for the event. If you or someone you know is interested in participating please apply by July 25 at rhpl.org, under "Use the Library", "Special Events Information".
