GET INVOLVED! Special Detroit NABJ convention book

Dear Friends!

NABJ is bringing nearly 3,000 reporters, editors, anchors, news directors and photographers - and many of the people they cover - to Detroit August 1-5 for its annual convention.

Our chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists is offering a special opportunity to our local businesses, restaurants, barbers, salons, nail shops and nonprofits. We want you to tell your story to these journalists, many of whom will be looking for stories to write about Detroit.

You can do that in a special local convention book that will be given to journalists at registration. This Welcome to Detroit book tells our guests about the Detroit they should know and some of the businesses, restaurants, salons, nonprofits, churches and other places they should visit and the community missions and charitable work they should know about. The theme is: If you haven't been to Detroit lately, you don't know Detroit.

Share your stories with the reporters in town. Why did you open your establishment? Why do you do what they do? Why are you newsworthy?

Please review the attached ad sheet and get your spot in this commemorative project. Use your ad to tell your story!! Be mindful of the deadline, WHICH HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO JULY 19, and make your check payable to Detroit NABJ.

Thanks so much for supporting your local journalists and their training and scholarship efforts! If you have questions, call NABJ18 Honorary Co-Chair Rochelle Riley at 313 378 5135.

Best,

Detroit NABJ
