AUTHOR, BLOGGER, SPEAKER, JOURNALIST, RADIO HOST, CONSULTANT & MORE!

Detroit native, Sylvia Hubbard, a single mother of three, has worked tirelessly to promote and encourage emerging writers in Michigan. She independently published her first romance novel in 2000 and has continued to write in that genre, sometimes venturing into other sub-genres. Always urban and contemporary styled, her writing is enjoyed all over the world. She has published 4 paperbacks and over 10 e-books.

The same year she published, Ms Hubbard also created Motown Writers Network to fill the lack of education and networking for Michigan authors online and offline. By 2004, she was frustrated that all the literary conferences had moved too far away from the city and co-created The Essence of Motown Literary Jam Conference held only in the City of Detroit annually.
In addition to romance writing, Hubbard has been featured at various conferences and workshops all over the United States and Canada, where she has taught authors how to sell their books on the Internet. She also published Internet Marketing for Writers & Businesses as a resource for those unable to attend her workshops. In the upcoming year, she will be featured in several anthologies and plans to publish additional e-books.

David Mitchell "Slade House" Reading

Event Details

Literati is pleased to welcome David Mitchell to Ann Arbor to read from his latest novel, Slade House. The event will take place in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, with co-sponsorship from the University of Michigan Helen Zell Writers' Program. After the reading, David will be in-conversation with Zell Writers' Program faculty member and author Peter Ho Davies. A book signing will follow.
Down the road from a working-class British pub, along the brick wall of a narrow alley, if the conditions are exactly right, you’ll find the entrance to Slade House: a surreal place where visitors see what they want to see, including some things that should be impossible. Every nine years, the house’s residents—an odd brother and sister—extend a unique invitation to someone who’s different or lonely: a precocious teenager, a divorced policeman, a shy college student. But what really goes on inside Slade House? For those who find out, it’s already too late. . . .

Spanning five decades, from the last days of the 1970s to the present, leaping genres, and barreling toward an astonishing conclusion, this intricately woven novel will pull you into a reality-warping new vision of the haunted house story—as only David Mitchell could imagine it.
David Mitchell is the award-winning and bestselling author of The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de ZoetBlack Swan GreenCloud AtlasNumber9Dream, and Ghostwritten. Twice shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, Mitchell was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME magazine in 2007. With KA Yoshida, Mitchell co-translated from the Japanese the international bestselling memoir, The Reason I Jump. He lives in Ireland with his wife and two children.

Get your copy athttp://amzn.to/1JsJAd0, share this event and then join us starting at midnight for giveaways and more!

About the book:

Genre: Fiction, Literary, Suspense, Thriller, Romance

RAW Rating: 4.0 (out of 5)

Tanner is an ex-prostitute whose ex-boyfriend, Donatello, was also her pimp. Even though she has left the business, he is trying to persuade her to return. She thinks he just wants her back in the business, but he actually wants her back in his life as well. Tanner finds herself in a rare predicament when she needs to come up with an outrageous amount of money. Does she find the money legitimately, or does she take Donatello up on his offer?

At age 33, Devlin Sanchez is a virgin and has vowed to save himself for marriage. When he catches his bride and his brother together, all of that goes out the window. He finds himself in the arms of Tanner and once the night is over, he is left wanting more.  Has Tanner added more drama to her life, and does Devlin know he has a fight on his hands?

TANNER'S DEVIL was a good read.  It was very fast-paced and filled with drama. The author does a good job of drawing the reader in from the first page. The characters are so real to life; it makes them easy to relate to.
