One of the most frequently asked question put to us about overseas travel is Can you getting a good, restful sleep while sitting up?  In the next few weeks there will be a lot of travelers that will put this question to the test. Wither you are traveling by air, train, motor coach, car the answer is yes.  As long as you are able to get comfortable and recline slightly, you can get a good restful sleep as you would lying down. However, sleeping upright does present some concerns. Sitting motionless with bent limbs for more than a couple of hours can lead to the development of deep vein thrombosis, a type of blood clotting in the large veins which can be fatal.  For this reason, you should remember to stretch your legs or shift positions periodically. Sleep experts suggest sitting back at an angle of at least 40 degrees. Do not drink alcoholic beverages or use sleeping pills that may immobilize your legs. Walk around any chance you get and drink plenty of water so you do not get dehydrated. Use a travel neck pillow and remember you might need a pillow for back support. Follow these few suggestion for a better travel night sleep.   Our Winter Break Weekend The Travel Club presents their semi-annual "Winter Break Weekend" scheduled for January 27 - January 29, 2012 Weekend.  We will be staying at the Treetops Resort located in Gaylord, Michigan.  There you will be able to enjoy several optional winter activities available on site such as downhill & cross country skiing, snowmobiling, hiking and tubing.
