Dear Friends & Fellow Narnians,

Don't miss the 2011 C. S. Lewis Festival keynote address a week from Friday! Dr. Christopher Mitchell will speak on The Magician's Nephew: Creation, Myth, and Narnia in Room 122 of the Administration Building at North Central Michigan College. This is a change from previous years, when the keynote address was in the college cafeteria. The event is part of the Manthei Speaker Series.

The following day is our Saturday Seminar, and we're asking you to register in advance if possible so we can plan appropriately. You can register online or download a mail-in form.

Can't wait until the 21st to begin the adventure? Neither can we. That's why book discussions start next Monday, the 17th. And it doesn't end with the Saturday Seminar. Chat with others interested in Lewis at the friendly, casual "Just an Inkling" gatherings at Stafford's Perry Hotel beginning October 24.

The weekend of Friday, October 28 is a big one for area young people. A youth theatre adaptation of The Magician's Nephew runs from the 28th through the 30th. All are welcome to come enjoy and support their performance.

And on the morning of Saturday, October 29 is the trick-or-treat event in downtown Petoskey. This year, the C.S. Lewis Festival will partner with the Downtown Management Board to provide activities for children at various downtown locations. Children participating in the activities will receive a passport which they can get stamped at each location. If your child hasn't decided on a costume yet, we suggest you consider Narnia characters.

The adventure continues into November, when Emmanuel Episcopal Church will host Dr. Devin Brown from Asbury University. On November 11, (and yes, that is 11/11/11), Brown will show and lead a discussion on the short documentary C. S. Lewis: Why He Matters Today, which he helped to produce. He will also deliver the sermon during the worship service at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Sunday, November 13.

Check our Calendar of Events for a handy summary of what's coming.

Let the adventure begin!
