Future Ready Librarians - Leading Beyond the Library
AM Session: 8:30am - 12:00pm
A Future Ready Librarian is an integral part of a Future Ready organization. Join Dr. Kristen Mattson, a member of the Future Ready Librarian leadership team and 2018 ISTE Emerging Leader, for this workshop to help you identify your strengths as a leader, your opportunities to make an impact, and to equip yourself with plenty of strategies and ideas for expanding your influence.

Digital Citizenship in Action!
PM Session: 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Expand your concept of digital citizenship education with this workshop designed to help you think beyond rules and risks, while empowering your students to reflect on opportunities, community building, and civic engagement through the use of digital tools. This hands-on, engaging session with ISTE Author and 2018 ISTE Emerging Leader, Dr. Kristen Mattson, will give you plenty of ideas and activities to use with students right away!

Online Resources to Support Literacy Essentials
AM Session: 8:30am - 12:00pm
Teacher-librarian Maggie Rohde and the new MeL Engagement Specialist K12, Ann Kaskinen, will look at a variety of online resources that will support the Michigan Literacy Essentials best practices (literacyessentials.org). Attendees will learn how to use these resources with students and will have some hands-on time to explore. New MeL resources will be included during the presentation as the new MeL contract went into effect October 2018.
Promoting STEM through Literature
PM Session: 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Use literature to get your students excited about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) by actively involving them in the design thinking process. Develop their inquiry and problem-solving skills, while helping them see that with perseverance, anyone can be innovative and invent new things! Judy Bowling and Kerry Guiliano will walk you through a lesson that begins with a reading activity and moves into the design thinking process, focusing on one of the Maker Kit items available for free checkout through your local REMC in Michigan. All of the STEM through Literature lessons are also available for free.
Designing or Renovating your Makerspace
PM Session: 1:00pm - 4:30pm
This hands-on workshop will be led by Nicholas Provenzano, Makerspace Director at University Liggett School in Grosse Point Woods and Angela Loewecke, Interior Designer with Demco. If you are looking to create a Makerspace or update an existing space within the next 12-18 months, this workshop is for you. Nicholas and Angela will provide an overview of the renovation of the University Liggett School Makerspace that opened in the fall of 2018. The latter half of this session will provide an opportunity for you to begin working through your Makerspace project plans with guidance from Nicholas and Angela.You will leave this workshop with a plan on how to tackle your Makerspace project.Partnership with SIG PL.
