Live Music in the Studio with Matty Harris, Los Angeles-based saxophonist and composer
Friday, August 5th at 7:00 pm

His group will be touring the midwest during August and we would love to set up a show at Schuler's.  Matty holds a BFA in jazz studies from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) where he studied and played with such jazz legends as Charlie Haden, Joe LaBarbera, Wadada Leo Smith, Vinny Golia, Alphonso Johnson, Don Moye, and others.  His unique brand of jazz incorporates both modern ear-catching composition and high-energy spontaneous improvisation.  Check out some of his recordings online at mattyharris.com.

D.J. DeSmyter Author Talk and Booksigning with Local Author D.J. DeSmyter for his new YA Fantasy book, Hunted
Thursday, August 11th at 7:00 pm

Seventeen-year-old Lily Atwater has always kept to herself, living a lonely life with her workaholic dad. Not the most thrilling life, but it's quiet and ordinary, two things she's come to expect from living in Victor Hills, Michigan.  When kind and mysterious Alex takes refuge in her home, she is suddenly thrown into his world of werewolves, a world he wants to keep her safe from. But while the two of them grow closer, a relentless hunter continues his search, stalking the woods with hopes of catching the wolf that got away...

Live Music in the Studio with Glean Infusion
Friday, August 26th 7:00 pm

"Peace and Balance through Music!"  Grand Rapids-based jam/fusion band, Glean Infusion was formed in 2007 as a collective musical experience intended to encompass and celebrate the diversity of the band member's influences. The high-energy collective truly embodies what it means to be a "band", finding risk taking, improvising and spontaneous communication to be the keystones of their original, raw sound.
