Reading on the riverfrontReading & Rhythm on the Riverfront (R3) program presented by the General Motors Foundation and the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy is an extraordinary summertime program designed to promote literacy throughout Southeastern Michigan, as well as provide children and their families the opportunity to experience the beautiful and re-energized Detroit Riverfront. The (R3) program debuted during the 5th Annual Detroit River Days Festival and continue on Fridays and Saturdays through August 19th. In addition to an afternoon selection by a celebrity reader, children and their families will also be treated to a complimentary ride on the Cullen Family Carousel, receive a healthy treat from the RiverWalk Café, as well as receive a free book from the Detroit Public Library's Library on Wheels. When: The program debuted during the 5th Annual Detroit River Days Festival and will continue on Fridays and Saturdays through August 13th. Where: Rivard Plaza located along the beautiful Detroit Riverfront will serve as the backdrop for this interactive and family-oriented programming. Highlights: Program highlights include summer afternoons of reading by a celebrity reader, live and interactive family entertainment, free books from the Detroit Public Library's Library on Wheels, free carousel rides, and healthy treats for the children.
