Beyond Books Newsletter Novi Public Library January 2012 Dear Syl, Together We're Better! To kick off 2012, the Library is very excited to work with organizations with a shared vision of supporting our community to provide a better variety and quality of library services.  As you read this month's newsletter, you will see our expanded focus on issues most important to you, including health, investments, and entertainment.  Please continue to share your feedback with us, so we can continue to work with great partners to support your educational, cultural, informational, and recreational needs.  Here's to the start of a bright new year with endless possibilities! Julie Farkas Director Library Closures The Library will be closed on: Sunday, January 1, 2012 Monday, January 2, 2012 Monday, January  16, 2012 Scrapbook for a Cause: January 28th (9am-Midnight) Get your photos, stickers, and cardstock ready - the Library is hosting 15 hours of scrapbooking fun with Creative Memories consultant, Mary Gantt.  Lunch, dinner, refreshments, demonstrations, and door prizes are available for a donation of $50 for 1 scrapper to enjoy a 6 foot table or $40 for 2 scrappers to share a 6 foot table.  All proceeds to support future Youth Programming events.  Call (248) 869-7204 to register. Investor Education In partnership with the Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation, the Library is offering a series of Investment programs to increase your financial knowledge, management, and planning starting this month.  Follow program link for additional information and to register: Investing Fundamentals, Jan 19, 7-8:30pm A Better You! Join us for interactive discussions on hot topics in health, as part of the ongoing partnership with the Library, St. John Providence Park Hospital, and You!  Walk away with an educated perspective and some cool prizes too!  Enjoy the series starting with: Getting Fit & Healthy in the New Year, Jan 26, 6-8pm Opening Minds Learn from this interactive program series on brain science and mental health, presented by Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority, starting with: Impact of Bipolar Disorder on the Family, Jan 30, 7-8:30pm Listen @ The Library Starting February 5, PNC Bank, the Chamber Music Society of Detroit, and the Library will present a series of free family concerts performed by internationally acclaimed artists.  These performances will be informal and interactive, introducing audiences to chamber music in an entertaining way.  Learn More.     Time to Renew... ...your Library Card?  Annually, the Library asks that patrons renew their cards to allow us to update our files with the most current information to provide better customer service.   45255 W.
