Movies in the Library Glory: Viewing and Discussion Thursday, Feb 23 | 6-9 pm Join us for a viewing of Glory, the story about a band of African-American soldiers fighting for freedom during the American Civil War. Historian and educator, Jeff Koslowski, will provide pop-up history during the movie and answers questions afterwards. Wednesday, Feb 22 | 7 pm Join us for a viewing of the documentary film: Standing in the Shadows of Motown. In 1959 Ben Gordy, Jr. gathered a group of promising musicians called "The Funk Brothers." Over the next 14 years these musicians were the house band for every #1 hit to come out of Motown, creating more chartbusters than the Elvis, the Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles combined. Three decades later, the Funk Brothers return to Detroit to reunite-and tell their unforgettable story. Refreshments will be provided.
