Detroit-Mercy's McNichols Campus, in the Grounds Coffee Haus, lower level of the Student Union, the third Sunday of each month. 
Guest parking is in the
first lot to the right of the security station. Event is free.

Al Ward will be reading poems from his CD, About Love Sometimes.
Albert Michael Ward (poet/producer/artist)

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Al Ward has been writing since his youth.  His work has been published at the University of Detroit Mercy, Wayne State University and Boston College University.  For a decade or more, Al was the principle writer of all-occasion greeting cards for Broom Designs, Inc., a Detroit black family owned greeting card manufacturer.  Al's first book, Patches On Mainstreet, was published by Broadside Press in 1989.  In April of 1998, Al was invited to serve as poet-in-residence  at the Salzburg Global Seminar in Salzburg, Austria.  Al has on several occasions served as an adjunct professor in poetry writing at the University of Detroit-Mercy for several years.  He is one of the founders and writers-in-resdence of Dudley Randall Center for Print Culture at the University.  Al is also a board member of Broadside Press.  In 2005, Al with two colleagues, Dr. Gloria House and Dr. Rosemary Weatherston  served as the editors of the poetry anthology, " A Different Image",  winner of a Michigan Notable Book Award as one of the best of 20 books published that year in the State of Michigan by a Michigan writer.  Al  recently released his first CD of poetry, jazz and spoken word entitled. "About Love Sometimes….the poetry of soul."   The feedback says that it is really something special.

The CD Features poet and collaborator Gloria Aneb House, with jazz masters Kenn Coxx, Donald Walden, Donovan Johnson, Michael Harrington and Leroy Hyter.
