"Great American Artists Presents: A More Perfect Union" is an exhibition of works by Jide Aje, Jamea Edmonds-Richards, Valerie Fair, Lamar Landers, Tiffany Massey, Yvette Rock, Gilda Snowden, Wesley Taylor, Jeremy Thacker-Mann, and Shirley Woodson. This collection of artists spans several generations of emerging and established artists, most of whom are from the Detroit area. The exhibition attempts to create broader connectivity among Detroit artists, and will potentially spawn a new series of collaborations and relationships.
"Great American Artists" is a collective of three generations of figurative artists whose intent is to exhibit collectively and create unique works that are inspired by their collaboration, shared histories and thematic connectivity. They work to provide new means of documenting and preserving each other's image, and their careers as artists. Each artist has completed a portrait of one another and documented each other's studio processes, techniques and thematic explorations for the past several years.
