RELEASE PARTY AND DISCUSSION!!!!! Announcing The Magic Pencil Curriculum Guide!

Karen E. Dabney will be presenting her companion book The Magic Pencil Curriculum Guide, for her novel for youth, The Magic Pencil, on November 9th from 6 PM - 8 PM at Detroit Unity Temple 17505 Second Ave., Detroit, MI 48203

The Magic Pencil Curriculum Guide is for instructors, group leaders and anyone who would like to get inside the mind of the author to understand her intent and how one may teach from the novel.

The Magic Pencil covers subjects such as language, literacy, black history and education. Its Guide contains summaries, activities and questions for each chapter that may easily be used as lesson plans encompassing every subject the instructor may wish to explore. It is more than a guide, it is an experience!

After the presentation, there will be an open discussion about ways to reach youth using the guide and through the novel. Motivating them to stay in school and to read for pleasure and knowledge will be the main theme.

This event is free and open to the public.

WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU!
LET'S FOCUS ON GETTING OUR YOUTH TO LEARN TO APPRECIATE THE WRITTEN WORD BEFORE THEY HAVE TO BE IMPRISONED TO DO SO!

TELL A TEACHER!

Both books will be available for autographs and purchase with 10% of the proceeds going toward the Alkebu-lan Village youth program.

Looking forward to seeing YOU!

A conference for a parents, youth and all other interested parties with Gifted in Michigan. Information attached! PLEASE PRINT OUT AND SHARE!
This organization aims to bring resources regarding sifting the gifts out in any child and providing info and assistance for our under-served populations in Detroit.
Our undiscovered gifted kids - who are also "special needs" youth whose needs are not being met - are the ones who end up excelling in negatives behaviors.
We also advocate for other special needs children with physical disabilities and such.
We need more folk to join us in these efforts!
If you are interested, please send an e-mail to dabsandco@att.net or call 313-632-3384. Please pass this KIP (Knowledge is Power) on!
