Leaders on Leadership

Lunch Series 

 

 

Are leaders born or are they made? This will be explored in a showing of the Leaders on Leadership film series. Enjoy a delicious lunch courtesy of the Southfield Eatery and watch the Leaders on Leadership program, network and find out how the Library can help your business.  Larry Fobes, host of Leaders on Leadership, will host this series and lead a group discussion after each episode is shown.

Leaders on Leadership is an Emmy-award winning, weekly television series in its 7th season produced by Detroit Public Television. It airs at 11 a.m. on Sundays and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays on WTVS Channel 56 and is available on-line at www.dptv.org "On Demand."

 Ma Baseema

 

Join us on Wednesday, October 10th for a special cooking demonstration hosted by the Chaldean Ladies of Charity(CALC). CALC is a non-profit charity organization and recently published the cookbook Ma Baseema: Middle Eastern Cooking with Chaldean Flair. A representative from CALC will teach participants how to make a Middle Eastern salad or appetizer, a main dish and a dessert – samples of the food will be provided. The cookbook will be available for purchase at this event and proceeds from the sale will benefit CALC's various programs. CALC is comprised of Chaldean American women energized by working together and with others to provide help and hope to those in need. They strive to preserve their heritage and enrich the community through awareness and advocacy, education and advice, and emotional and economic support.

Michigania - This digital archive documents state history. Drawn from the Sabin collection and other Gale sources, the archive provides access to a wide variety of documents: personal narratives and memoirs, pamphlets and political speeches, sermons and songs, legal treatises and children's books.

MEL Michigania - links to online historical collections from all around the state from early images of Detroit to the building of the Mighty Mac bridge. 

 

Read To Kassie 

 

Come and Read to Kassie! 

Kassie is a certified therapy dog who would love to have you read to her. Drop in to the Youth Room on Mondays in October from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. and practice reading aloud to Kassie. She loves a good book!
