Summer Reading Program 2011 - August 25 marked the close of another successful summer reading program for our children. 403 people in 125 families attended Award Celebrations throughout the day to receive their certificates and prize packages. The prize packages contained coupons (for free items donated by 29 local businesses) and other items such as bookmarks, puzzles and stickers.
Here are some of the statistics:
- 78% of the children who registered actively participated by beginning reading charts. 83 % of those reached their goal-or a total of 246 children. Those children logged a total of 7403 books. Younger children listened to books read by parents and second graders and up read on their own.
- 37 parents took on the "Parent Reading Challenge" in which they explored all of the areas of the Juvenile Collection. 15 parents read in all 20 categories.
CONGRATULATIONS AND KEEP UP THE GOOD READING!
