| Spoken Word Artists and Authors Showcase at Dayton Book Expo 2012 Dayton, Ohio - On Saturday, April 28, 2012, authors from across the nation will gather for the third annual Dayton Book Expo. In addition to book signings, the one-day expo will feature panel discussions for aspiring authors, spoken word, activities for children in the Kidz Zone and featured child author, Kristina Cardoza. The event will be held from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the Great Hall at Sinclair Community College's Ponitz Conference Center, 444 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45402. The family-friendly event is free and open to the public. LaTonya Branham, Dayton Book Expo co-founder, says, "The new genre at the expo this year is poetry. In addition to having several authors of poetry, we incorporated a spoken word session to showcase meter and rhyme." Poetry in Motion, founded by local artist, Chris Wiley, is sponsoring this portion of the expo. From noon to 1:00 PM, area poets and two Dayton Book Expo authors will bring life to the written word with inflections, movements and unique expressions. "With Dayton being the birthplace of poet laureate, Paul Laurence Dunbar, spoken word was a natural fit for the Dayton Book Expo." | Chris Wiley Chris, who uses the gift of poetry to articulate personal testimonies, says, "The only way we can help one another is to open up and express what's on our hearts. I have always been passionate about writing, but it wasn't until my undergraduate studies that I decided to expose my work to the world." Chris recently completed a tour in which he featured in shows from Florida to Pennsylvania. When he's not on stage, he can be found in classrooms, coffee shops, writing workshops and other locations reciting original poetry with his distinctive style. Valerie J. Lewis Coleman, Dayton Book Expo co-founder, says, "Some poetry can be so intimately connected to the author that its exclusivity alienates others. If the listener cannot relate to the message, the listener cannot benefit from the message. Chris has mastered the ability to make his story relevant, tap into your inner person and, as a result, has amassed a significant fan base." | | In addition to poets, the following authors will be autographing copies of their books at the Dayton Book Expo: Andrea Attaway-Young | A Secret Treasure | Dayton | OH | Andrea Foy | Hire Power: How to Find, Get and Keep a Job | Dayton | OH | Charlotte Brown | When the Power Goes Out | Dayton | OH | Daisy Peterson | The Love of a Faith-Filled Child | Dayton | OH | Dexter Bailey | All In: Creating Success from Within | Dayton | OH | Gail Miller | True Love Has a Passion for You | Dayton | OH | Iitishia Hester | God is Calling | Dayton | OH | Jeffrey Spieles | In Sherman's Path | Dayton | OH | Kristina Cardoza | Pinky Bunny's First Day of Kindergarten | Dayton | OH | LaTonya Branham | CultureSeek | Dayton | OH | Linda Hawkins | Yes, Real Women Do Sweat | Dayton | OH | Linda Pauley | Effective Immediately...This Company is Closed! | Dayton | OH | Lyman Montgomery | Shattered Masks | Dayton | OH | Marcella Ashe | Granny Says | Dayton | OH | Ruth Ann Peck | Rowing Through the Night | Dayton | OH | Valerie J.
