Lance Werner, Director Kent District Library _____________________________________________________________ | Dream Big: Read Summer Reading @ KDL Fill your summer days and nights with great reads and big dreams, and sign up at any branch starting on June 1 for Summer Reading @ KDL. With programs for infants, children, teens and adults, the whole family can get in on the fun. Reading books and winning prizes... it's a dream come true!
Summer Reading @ KDL will run from June 1 - August 31 and will contain a fun new badge component for kids, where they will be challenged to learn not only through reading, but also through seeing, doing and going. It's a great way for kids to keep their minds sharp and active during those long summer months away from school. __________________________________________________________________ | Pull up a chair at any KDL branch
Has your love of books and other KDL materials made it difficult to let go of some of your checked-out items by their due date? Put that love to work for you the week of May 7-13: KDL cardholders are invited to visit a branch, and for every 10 minutes spent reading or listening in the library, $1 in overdue fines will be waived up to a maximum of $10 (does not apply to lost or damaged items or collection fees). For all ages. ** Note: KDL cardholders only. Patrons must do their reading at a KDL branch to have overdue fines waived. Does not apply to lost or damaged items or collection fees.** ___________________________________________________________ |

Branches: Stories Rooted in the KDL Community Bailey Katsumata-Smith used to think reading was -- in her words -- an overrated waste of time. "That all changed when I turned 6," she said. The eighth-grader now blogs about what she's reading, recommends books to her friends and is spotted a couple times a week in the teen section at the East Grand Rapids branch. Read Bailey's story here. _____________________________________________________________ |
Ready For The Reaping A Cascade Township branch patron takes part in a recent Hunger Games exercise, held at three KDL branches. See our Summer Kaleidoscope, available next month at all our branches, for more Hunger Games-themed activities, or place a hold on the eAudiobook version of the series. |
